Week 37 update
From Sally
We had our ultrasound this morning. The baby weighs right around 7 pounds now and everything looks good. Hard to see much or get good pictures since he's in pretty cramped quarters. He pretty much fills up my entire tummy. They checked out all his internal organs and everything looks great. Should have a very healthy baby. Still in head down position like he should be, and resting very low, so he has dropped down. Let's hope he's getting ready to make his move!
She (the doctor) asked if I'd been feeling any braxton hicks contractions yet, and I haven't. She said not to worry, some women don't get these practice contractions, or if they do they aren't really strong enough to distinguish. Once I do start feeling contractions I need to wait until they are about 30-50 seconds long and 5 minutes apart for an hour. Then call the Dr's office before heading to the hospital. Unless my water breaks first (which is not very common). Then call right away.
If by the time June 4 arrives and he hasn't wanted to make an appearance yet, they usually wait a week before inducing. The preference is to let the baby decide he's ready to come out.
She said there is nothing really special I should be doing right about now. Just rest when I need to and take it easy. Unfortunately there isn't anything I can do to hurry the process along. :)
We've gotten everything ready at home, and I'm close to having things wrapped up at work. So now we just wait. Our next Dr's appointment is next Wednesday afternoon.
We'll keep you posted! Hopefully he'll be ready in the next two weeks!
